Economic development veteran to take the helm on September 6th

Rockville, MD – August 11, 2016 – The Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) announces David Petr as the first president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the new public/private venture. Petr joins MCEDC from the Central Florida Development Council, Inc., where he was the president and CEO. He will begin his tenure with MCEDC on September 6, 2016.

As the former president and CEO of the Central Florida Development Council, Petr successfully transitioned the organization from a public/private partnership to a private organization, while achieving record-setting job creation and capital investment results during his tenure. The MCEDC Board believes his unique talents in organizational transformation and team building while running a high-performing economic development program will align well to the immediate and long-term needs of MCEDC.

Regional in his perspective, Petr successfully worked with key business, government and education leaders to diversify the value proposition of the Central Florida Development Council, with significant impact in the areas of business expansion, talent development, international trade, infrastructure, fundraising, advocacy, entrepreneurship and access to capital.
